CISSP, governed by (ISC)², is a highly regarded credential for experienced cybersecurity professionals. It requires either five years of qualifying work experience or an approved endorsement path, along with passing a rigorous exam. Online training programs, bootcamps, and university courses can prepare applicants, but they don’t replace the experience requirement. CISSP is commonly required for senior security roles and is recognized by government and private sector employers. When evaluating online prep, make sure the course explicitly follows the (ISC)² exam domains and includes practice tests. Also plan for continuing professional education hours needed to maintain the credential after passing the exam. If you lack the experience now, consider entry-level certs like Security+ or role-based learning paths to build toward CISSP eligibility.
